The second day was easily our best day thus far. He showed no signs of pain. He did yell and verbally abuse the nurses every time he had roll over. Since he is on his back completely flat they rotate between three different positions. Everything seemed to go super smooth and I honestly can't even remember that day sticking out in my head. It's been a little bit of a whirl wind. My parents had the girls so all went really well in that area too. Didn't feel like we were trying to juggle to many things...yet. lol
Jess had the honors of staying the first two nights per Gat's request. Jess had to deal with any night time issues the first two nights. Pretty much uneventful except for the rotating.
A little hand hold can go a long way if you can't tell;)
The third day got a little bit tougher. Gat's IV went bad around 6 am, therefore had to get a new one. I missed that whole fiasco because I was still at the hotel with the girls. I feel like this is when everything hit the kids. Gat realized that he wasn't going back to the hotel and the girls realized they weren't getting enough of our attention. This battle is still ongoing- was one of my main concerns so prayers for understanding kids would be awesome! This was also the last morning my parents were here. They were more of a help than they realized and we realized. It was so nice they have the flexibility to come down and be with us. Gatlyn still had to be on his back and it was really up and down in the moods. He was just not having anyone other than us. Which makes it pretty hard when you are in a hospital and he has to be touched every 2 hours. But I stayed the whole day which was my first full day without leaving. Jess spent the afternoon at the hotel with the girls swimming. Then we had a family movie night at Gatlyn's bedside. It was almost a disaster but it was saved by some cuddles, like for real Rae almost had a major meltdown. The night went fairly well, no tears and some solid sleep for Gat. Myself. . . not so much, apparently he is into me sleep in he bed with him and that is no fun at all. But he liked to have his head in my armpit, being that I couldn't actually hold him. So whatever will make the kid feel more at home, I'll do!
The sisters saved the day so much. He has loved having them here and never wants them to leave.
Overall Day Three sucked and he cried a lot and it wasn't fun.
We are so thankful with your prayers and support. We can never thank you enough, only hope to one day show you the same love!
